The National Instruments PCI-6516 Digital I/O Device (Part Number: 779082-01) features a configurable watchdog timer component that sets outputs to a safe state in case of system failure, frame crash, or communication loss between the application and device.

Operation Details

When enabled, the watchdog timer will trigger if no reset command is received within the configured time period. Outputs remain in the safe state until the watchdog is disabled, the device is reset, or the computer restarts.

For proper operation, connect 5V to 30V control power to VCC, ground to COM (GND), and cross-stack between high output and COM (GND). Inputs are recognized as high at ≥11V DC and low at ≤4V DC (4V-11V produces unreliable values).
